Night Coming Tenderly, Black exhibition by Dawoud Bey is a visual reimagining of the landscape through which fugitive slaves moved across the Cleveland and Hudson, Ohio landscapes as they made their way towards Lake Erie. Learn the history of Cleveland’s Underground Railroad during a guided bus tour led by Dr. Dorothy Salem. Begin the tour at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ohio City, Cleveland’s oldest standing house of worship, noted as a stop on the Underground Railroad. Receive an introduction of the exhibition, Night Coming Tenderly, Black, before visiting sites throughout Cleveland, including the Woodland Cemetery, Old Stone Church, Alfred Greenbrier House, Monroe Street Cemetery and the Cozad-Bates House.
